Minute of silence in memory of the victims of the Eredvi tragedy was observed at the meeting of the President of South Ossetia

Today South Ossetia is commemorating the victims of the Eredvi tragedy. A minute of silence in tribute to their memory was paid at today`s meeting of the President of the Republic Leonid Tibilov with heads of the law enforcement agencies. He has reminded that exactly 22 years ago near the village of Eredvi after severe torturing 12 Ossetians were buried alive by the Georgian armed forces.

"Their bodies were discovered by the South Ossetian side exactly one year after the tragedy," - said Tibilov.
The President has stressed that the people, who went through such hard trials, should never forget this fact and must do everything to prevent such tragedy in the future.
"Our Republic has been recognized and this year we will mark the fifth anniversary of the recognition of our independence. But we have to remember all those whom we have lost. And in the name of those who gave their lives for our independence and freedom we must do everything their sacrifice not to be in vain. We need to work on the development and prosperity of our Republic, "- said the head of state.
It should be reminded that today South Ossetia is commemorating the victims of the Eredvi tragedy. Exactly twenty two years ago 12 men were brutally tortured and buried alive by the Georgian fascists near the Georgian village of Eredvi.
