Today in Tskhinval the State Statistics Office of South Ossetia and the Federal State Statistics Service of Russia (Rosstat) have signed a cooperation agreement. The document was signed by the Head of the State Statistics Office of the RSO Eric Pukhaev and Head of Rosstat Alexander Surinov.
The agreement provides for exchange of statistical information on issues of interest to both sides, exchange of experience in statistical methodology, organization of joint seminars.
Alexander Surinov assured the South Ossetian counterpart of full support on all issues, noting the effective cooperation between the two agencies.
According to Eric Pukhaev, the document will significantly improve the quality and level of interaction.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Acting Prime Minister of the Republic Domenty Kulumbegov, Deputy Foreign Minister Alain Kochiev, Russian Ambassador to South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev and the staff of Rosstat.
Domenty Kulumbegov noted the high level of cooperation between Russian and South Ossetian authorities and, in particular, between the statistical offices of the two countries.
"We appreciate and support this cooperation. This is an example of a business partnership to solve specific problems, "- he stressed.
According to him, the cooperation agreement will positively affect these processes, and the interaction of statistical offices of Russia and South Ossetia will rise to a new level.
According to the Ambassador of Russia in South Ossetia Elbrus Kargiev, contractual and legal framework of cooperation between the two countries covers virtually all areas.
"We are working productively and efficiently, covering all areas of cooperation, working closely with our Russian counterparts," - he said.
Furthermore, the diplomat has noted the positive results of the tenth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on socio-economic cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia, held in Moscow, mechanisms of cooperation in addressing difficult issues.
"We are very optimistic about the ways of development of the Republic. All funds allocated for the implementation of this task, should be used promptly and effectively,"- said Kargiev.
He has expressed confidence that by the end of 2014, the Republic will show real results.
In 2009 between the two agencies was signed a protocol of cooperation. In 2013, between the Federal State Statistics Service and the State Statistics Office of South Ossetia was signed a joint action plan. The agreement will strengthen and expand contacts between the two agencies on the implementation of these activities and plans.
