The year 2020 is declared the "Year of Memory" in South Ossetia

In 2020, the year of the centennial of the genocide of the people of South Ossetia, the Year of Remembrance will be held in the Republic. The corresponding decree was signed by President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov on Friday, December 27, the press service of the head of state reports.

The year of memory is held in connection with "the centennial of the Ossetian genocide carried out in 1920 by the Georgian Democratic Republic, and as a tribute to the national memory of the victims of the genocide tragedy."

In the same document, the head of state ordered the South Ossetian government to organize events for the Year of Remembrance and entrusted the operational coordination of organizing and conducting the Year of Remembrance with the head of the Presidential Executive Office Igor Kozaev.

Anatoly Bibilov reserved control over the execution of the decree.
