The Georgian authorities are trying by any means not to remain outside the attention of the international community, therefore, even in this difficult time in the world, they do not miss any “opportunity” to attract attention and once again “pinch” the Republic of South Ossetia and Russia, said Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Republic for Post-Conflict Settlement Murat Dzhioev.

“So the other day they raised a“ universal scandal ”due to the fact that the border service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia put up border marks near the South Ossetian village of Khumta (Gvirgvina), from the Georgian side the nearest settlement is the village of Takhtisdziri, along the line of the state border of South Ossetia with Georgia, while these border information signs, which primarily inform the local population about the state border line, are installed exclusively on the territory of South Ossetia and exclusively by South Ossetian border guards, "said Dzhioev.

According to him, in the current period of agricultural works, it is important for the local population to be informed in order to avoid inadvertent violation of the state border.

“Moreover, the South Ossetian side via the «hot line.” deliberately informed that such work will be carried out Nevertheless, representatives of the Georgian authorities perceived this, as they like to say “borderization ”a threat to Georgia’s security and raised a scandal, which even the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia reacted to, "Dzhioev emphasized.

He added that at the same time, of course, the Georgian authorities are trying not to notice that, in the framework of the same Geneva discussions, the South Ossetian party constantly suggests the Georgian party to begin joint work on border delimitation.

“But since the Georgian side does not react to such work, South Ossetia is unilaterally working, and I emphasize again, exclusively on the South Ossetian territory. Where there are border signs, there are practically no violations. And this is primarily in the interests of the local population. For example, residents of the South Ossetian village of Kalet and the Georgian village of Chernisi constantly complain about each other’s cattle, "the Envoy noted.

Dzhioev stressed that because of to the tense situation in the world, which the Georgian authorities use to soften their patrons, life does not stop.

"Rural residents continue to plow and sow. A clear knowledge of the border line between the states, and especially the villages in the border strip, only contributes to maintaining local stability," the Envoy said, however, this, according to him, is not in the interests of the Georgian authorities.
