Russia will do everything to support Marat Kambolov's work as head of South Ossetia, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated at the meeting with Acting President of the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov.

"We will do everything to support you. Of course, we understand that there are plenty of issues and problems, but I must say that you and your family view the republic as your homeland, and I am confident that you will do everything in your power to develop the Republic," Putin said.

The words of the Russian President are a great honor and a huge responsibility, Acting President of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov has written on his Telegram channel.

The meeting of the two sides took place in Moscow on Monday.

"South Ossetia has been and remains a reliable ally of Russia. I am confident that together we can solve the challenges facing our republic today, for the sake of the people and the future of South Ossetia.

Thank you, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, for your support and good wishes," he said.

The unity among all political forces is crucial for South Ossetia, and presidential candidate Marat Kambolov is contributing to this, Vadim Tedeev, Rector of the South Ossetian State University, noted in a media comment.

According to him, all political forces in the Republic, as well as public organizations, were present at the meeting of the initiative group nominating Kambolov for the post of head of state.

The Rector has noted that the presidents of South Ossetia who have led the country at various times have also unanimously supported Kambolov's nomination.

The Border Service of the State Security Committee (KGB) of South Ossetia has summarized its work for the first half of 2026, reporting the detention of 184 border law violators. This was reported by the agency's press service.

According to the data presented, 54 violators of the state border regulations and 129 violators of the border regulations were detained during the reporting period. In addition, one offender was detained for disobeying the lawful orders of the border officers.

The KGB Border Service has conducted investigations into all violations.

Seventy-two polling stations will be opened in South Ossetia for the early presidential elections.
