A round table was held on the International Day of the Missing in South Ossetia

The round table discussion, timed to the International Day of the Missing Persons, has been held today in South Ossetia. The round table was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Alla Dzhioeva, Foreign Minister David Sanakoev, Deputy Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Hokh Gagloyty, president`s ombudsman Inal Tasoev, families of the missing persons and other invited guests.

During the round table Alla Dzhioeva has noted that the tragic fate of the people united all of them by common grief.
"I remember how much we were cooperating with all the international organizations, in order to find at least one of the missing. At the level of public diplomacy wegained access to the appropriate Georgian committees, because in such situation one cannot care what nationality the missing person is - stressed Dzhioeva. - I sincerely wish that the ones you have been waiting for all these years would return home, that you could find your missing. But thereto we have to work hard. Thanks to the public diplomacy during these 20 years, we found 12 people, tortured to death in Eredvi. I wish the families who have gone through this terrible tragedy, would find the strength to bring to the logical end the hard mission that the fate destined for you. "
Dzhioeva has expressed hope that the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will contribute to tracing the missing citizens of South Ossetia.
"I want to emphasize for the ICRC – at that time we were working closely with the international organizations and there was no any organization, where we had not submitted the lists of the missing. Those organizations had greatpower, but, unfortunately, we could not find any of the missing persons. We pin great hopes on you and believe that through the public channels you will help the people who are living with the everlasting expectations "- said Deputy Prime Minister.
In turn, David Sanakoev noted the need to apply every effort to achieve any results in searching for the missing people.
"By common efforts we should find out the fate of the missing persons who disappeared during the conflict. For our part we are ready to support you, "- he said.
Leana Hutchings, head of the ICRC office in Tskhinval, has added that the ICRC is ready to support the families of the missing.
"I have seen today all the photos of the missing, and my soul, my heart have felt, how hard is to lose your loved one. I hope, next year we will take at least one photo off the wall because of the good news about him. We will apply all our efforts and ascendancy. Our door is always open for you, and we will always welcome you,"- said the head of the ICRC.
She added that today the Day of the Missing is also being commemorated in Chechnya, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Georgia, Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, etc.
It should be noted that today at the Theater Square in Tskhinval is scheduled the event "We love, we remember, we are waiting for," the initiator of the action is the association of families of the missing "Memory".
Besides, on the initiative of the ICRC today will be held other actions in support of the missing.
