Tskhinval and Randazzo became sister cities - the corresponding document was signed on Wednesday.

The delegation of the province of Catania (Italian Republic) visited South Ossetia. A meeting of the Italian guests with the leadership of the administration of the city of Tskhinval took place. Following the meeting, a Cooperation Agreement was signed.

The head of the Tskhinval city administration, Alan Kochiev, thanked the guests for the visit, and announced his intention to develop relations between the cities.

“Today, South Ossetia is at the development stage, I think our cooperation will allow us to talk about our Republic. We have something to show the world, and you can contribute to this,” said Alan Kochiev.

Carmelo Tindaro Scalizi thanked his South Ossetian colleagues for the warm welcome and stressed that the signing of the Agreement between Randazzo and Tskhinval was a good step for cooperation.

“Our peoples are very sympathetic to each other; we are practically brothers. We appreciate it very much. We intend to develop relations in different spheres of activity, despite the geographical remoteness. The main thing is to have peace on your land,” said the Deputy head of the municipality of the city of Randazzo.

The South Ossetian Mayor fully supported the proposal of the Italian colleague. “It is important for us to sign the document, since we are planning cooperation in the field of economy, tourism, culture, and I hope the proposals will not remain on paper, we will implement them, as it is necessary for the rapprochement of our peoples," Alan Kochiev said.

After the official part of the meeting, was signed an Agreement on cooperation between the administration of the city of Tskhinval and the municipality of Randazzo in the province of Catania. Alan Kochiev and Carmelo Tindaro Scalizi signed the document.

The text of the Agreement was read in Ossetian and Italian. The document is intended to promote mutually beneficial cooperation between cities, the establishment of closer economic, social and cultural interaction.

The Agreement provides for holding fairs, exhibitions, festivals, as well as joint events with the participation of artistic and creative groups. Mutual visits of representatives of business circles, academics and artists are planned.
