Anatoly Bibilov: we will remember with gratitude the support of the people of Nicaragua

President of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, within the framework of his working visit to the Republic of Nicaragua, took part in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution, the press service of the head of state said.

Ceremonial events were held in the capital of Nicaragua, Managua.

Speaking at the rally, Anatoly Bibilov welcomed President Daniel Ortega and the people of Nicaragua on behalf of the fraternal South Ossetia.

“Visiting friends is always a pleasant event, but the opportunity to attend such a joyful celebration as the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Sandinista revolution at the event of national significance is a great honor,” said President of the RSO.

He noted that it was encouraging to see today what impressive steps the Nicaraguan people had taken in choosing freedom.

“The successful socio-economic development of the country, its worthy position in the world community - all this is achieved thanks to the victorious revolution and is an inspiring example for many nations,” said Anatoly Bibilov.

He has reminded that in the historical path of the countries fighting for freedom, there is much in common and South Ossetia, like the Nicaraguans, had to take up arms and defend its independence.

Anatoly Bibilov has also stressed that recognition of the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia by Nicaragua was “a courageous step of a truly sovereign state and was of tremendous importance”.

“Recognition of independence has become an obstacle to new relapses of the Georgian aggression. No matter how much time passes, we will always remember with gratitude the support that the Nicaraguan people gave us in difficult times for us, ”said President of the RSO, stressing that despite the opposition, the strengthening of the international position of South Ossetia continues, the number of countries recognized the independence of the Republic, is growing.

Addressing the President and the people of Nicaragua, Anatoly Bibilov once again expressed his gratitude for friendship and interaction and wished the country peace, prosperity and new successes.

The solemn meeting in Managua, which brought together more than 60 thousand people, was attended by delegations from dozens of countries.

As part of his working visit to Nicaragua, Anatoly Bibilov plans to hold a number of meetings. During the visit, President of South Ossetia is being accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Medoev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of South Ossetia to the RN Narim Kozaev.
