The Parliament of South Ossetia at aеру session on Friday unanimously adopted an appeal to the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the State Duma on the situation on the border in connection with the situation around the Georgian post in the village of Uista (Tsnelis) in Znaur district of South Ossetia.

"The situation is aggravated at the border and the deputy corps must react. Therefore, an appeal was drawn up and adopted at the Presidium. We must respond to the situation that has developed at the borders and must do everything necessary to comply with all agreements regarding the border protection," said Speaker of the Parliament Alan Tadtaev.

MPs are outraged by the fact that the power structures of Georgia, delving into the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia, put up an armed post at a dominant height in the village of Uista.

"The establishment by the Georgian side of control over part of the southwestern territory of South Ossetia with the richest deposits of natural talc, marble, serpentinite and expanded clay, contributes to the escalation of tension in the region," the statement says.

According to the deputies, the ownership of the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia, which became the object of another military expansion of Georgia, is confirmed by the Decree "On the Formation of the Autonomous Region of South Ossetia" dated April 22, 1922, as well as by archival materials.

"Attempts at a peaceful resolution of the next military-political crisis, imposed by Georgia, within the framework of meetings held in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) are unsuccessful, due to the unconstructive position of the Georgian party. European Union represented in the negotiation process by the European Observer Mission Union in Georgia, in violation of clause 2 of the Memorandum following the negotiations of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev with the EU delegation led by French President Nicolas Sarkozy of September 8, 2008, actually refuses its obligations to provide a guarantee of the principle of the non-use of force, "the parliamentarians said.

The appeal also states that at the same time, the Treaty of Alliance and Integration signed between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on March 18, 2015 provides for a coordinated foreign policy, which involves the mutual consideration of the interests of the contracting parties in various areas of cooperation, informing each other about the actions in this regard, , as well as close cooperation in strengthening peace, enhancing stability and security in the Caucasus region.

"The above circumstances compel the Parliament of the Republic of South Ossetia to apply to the Council of the Federation for assistance in implementing Article 2 of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Ossetia on Alliance and Integration, according to which the Russian Federation assumes the defense and security of our Republic, including the protection and safety of its state border. In this regard, the Parliament declares the need to immediately hold inter-parliamentary consultations on the development of approaches conducive to de-escalation tensions and restoring the security of citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia, "the deputies noted.

The MPs gathered on Friday for a meeting on this single issue.
