The technical meeting within the framework of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), where the situation around the Georgian roadblock was once again discussed, ended to no avail, the parties will meet again in a week.

"A three-hour discussion of the only issue on the removal of the roadblock near the village of Uista (Tsnelis) did not bring any results, the Georgian party does not want to remove the post, our position is principled, the post should be removed because it will destabilize the situation," the Presidential Envoy told reporters for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev.

Murat Dzhioev, Presidential Plenipotentiary for Post-Conflict Settlement, has stated that the Georgian post is located relatively close to the village, hanging over the buildings of the former Yugosettalk enterprise and causes local residents to feel fear.

"Putting up a Georgian roadblock is a gross violation of the state border of South Ossetia," Dzhioev said.

Last Thursday, the border guards of South Ossetia occupied the dominant height in the area and began to equip their posts as part of a special humanitarian operation to ensure security for the residents of this area and prevent the Georgian side from trying to establish control over part of the South Ossetian territory.

Earlier, the authorities of South Ossetia demanded that Georgia remove the police post by August 30, otherwise they promised to take "legal means to protect the population from emerging threats," but Georgia continued to equip a roadblock.

The current situation is discussed at the technical meetings in the IPRM format with the participation of the European Union and OSCE representatives.
