Natalya Zhuykova, Chairman of the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in South Ossetia, took part in the World Thematic Conference of Foreign Russian Compatriots “Compatriots and Continuity of Generations”.

As Natalya Zhuykova told the Res news agency, the conference had been held from October 30 to October 31 in Moscow.

“The conference was attended by 155 leaders and activists of the Russian community, prominent representatives of the Russian diaspora from 93 countries, as well as members of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, leaders and representatives of federal and regional executive bodies, well-known Russian women from among political, public figures, and entrepreneurs , teachers, Russian scientists, as well as journalists, ”she said.

Zhuykova has noted that over two days of intensive work, more than 150 delegates from 90 countries discussed the most successful practices of our compatriots in preserving the language, traditions, culture and identity in their countries.

“The topic of the conference was the role of women in preserving traditions. The World Conference of Foreign Russian Compatriots was opened by Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. According to her, women not only make up the majority in the Russian diaspora abroad, they are often its core, a real unifying force of Russian-speaking communities.”

Natalia Zhuykova, Chairman of the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in South Ossetia, said that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov could not attend the conference due to an urgent business trip to Strasbourg, so Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko read out his greeting.

“It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of compatriots in ensuring the continuity of generations, in preserving the Russian language and culture in families, in bringing up children in the spirit of love for their historical homeland,” Lavrov said in a greeting.

The conference helped to further reveal the creative and intellectual potential of compatriots, expanding the possibilities of their self-realization for the benefit of the multinational and multiconfessional Russian world.

Zhuykova has emphasized that during the conference special attention was paid to the role of women compatriots in upholding the historical truth, moral and patriotic education of the younger generation, preparation and holding by compatriots abroad in 2020 of commemorative events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, including the action “ Immortal Regiment "and others.

“During the conference, a protocol was signed on cooperation between the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum under the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia and the World Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots. The forum participants decided to join the activities of the Eurasian Women's Forum and work out the issue of creating an international non-governmental organization of Russian-speaking women in order to develop ties between women's communities of compatriots around the world,” she said.

Zhuykova said that the conference ended with the adoption of a final resolution and the awarding of active compatriots.
