Servicemen of the Ministry of Defense of South Ossetia are planning to take part in seven competitions, which are included in the program of the International Army Games, said State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic Vadim Siukaev at the press conference "ARMI-2021: South Ossetia is ready to participate and win" at the press conference held in Tskhinval on Wednesday,

According to him, the teams of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of South Ossetia will take part in such competitions as: "Sniper Frontier", "Airborne Platoon", "Confident Hold", "Sayan March", "Elbrus Ring", "Tank Biathlon" and " High achievers in Military Intelligence".

“The goals and objectives are different from last year's games, we plan to train three crews plus one spare crew so that we can compete not only in individual races, but also in the relay. We received an invitation to participate last year from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and we confirmed our participation. He noted that despite the fact that the South Ossetian team took part in international games for the first-time last year, "it exceeded all expectations."

“This was our first time with two crews. The results exceeded our expectations, the tank crew showed good results,” he added.

To prepare for the competition, according to Siukaev, a sufficient base has been created at the South Ossetian training ground, where it is possible to pass all kinds of obstacles, there is a material and technical base for the initial stage of training military personnel.

“Some places have been re-equipped, modernized and optimized taking into account the competitions that were held last year. We can master the initial stage on our base. At the same time, an important element of training is the ability, skills of military personnel and physical endurance, the ability to navigate and overcome obstacles. " - he said.

Siukaev has noted that at the next stage of preparation, it is planned to interact with Russian colleagues, where it will be possible to conduct training at the training ground of the 58th Army.

In turn, the military training officer of the Ministry of Defense, Major David Tedeev, told reporters at the press conference that 60 servicemen will represent South Ossetia at the International Army Games in 2021.

It is also planned to involve South Ossetian cadets who are being trained in higher military institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to participate in the International Games. They will take part in competitive games - "Airborne Platoon", "Confident Action" and "Sayan March".

It should be noted that in 2021, the International Army Games will be held from August 22 to September 4. A total of 34 international competitions are planned to be held in Russia with the maximum expansion of the geography of their holding. This year, 30 competitions were held at the International Army Games, 156 teams from 32 countries participated in the competition.

South Ossetian national team will take part in the International Army Games for the second time. In 2020, the South Ossetian team of tankers took third place in the second division of the Tank Biathlon competition.

The press conference was attended by State Secretary - Deputy Defense Minister Vadim Siukaev, officer of the combat training department of the Ministry of Defense David Tedeev, tank platoon commander Dmitry Bukulov (participant of last year's tank biathlon).
