President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov took part in the celebrations dedicated to the 7th anniversary of the formation of the Lugansk People's Republic. According to the press service of the head of state, the South Ossetian delegation has included the rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev and MPs Alan Gabatov and Alan Tekhov.
The head of the Lugansk People's Republic Leonid Pasechnik met the heads of delegations on the red carpet.
Delegations of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Abkhazia, and the Donetsk People's Republic also arrived at the festivities.
A solemn meeting took place in the Column Hall of Lugansk.
Those present were congratulated by Leonid Pasechnik.
“Today we are celebrating our most important public holiday - the Day of the Lugansk People's Republic. The further time removes us from the day of proclamation of the Independence Day, the brighter and more courageous we see the feat of the inhabitants of the Luhansk region, who were not afraid to come to the referendum 7 years ago and proudly declare that they want to live in a free democratic state, where the rights and freedoms of everyone are above all” , - said the head of the LPR.
He has stressed that in 7 years the republic has passed a difficult path.
“All these years we have been living under the cannonade of the Ukrainian artillery, but at the same time we believe in peace and are supporters of a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Sooner or later Kiev will have to understand that the civil war can be stopped only through a peaceful dialogue with us, the inhabitants of the republic,” said Leonid Pasechnik and thanked those who supported the Lugansk People's Republic 7 years ago and continue to support it now.
By the decree of the head of the LPR, Anatoly Bibilov was awarded the medal "For loyalty to duty" for active assistance in the development of economic and cultural ties, social and charitable activities, a significant personal contribution to strengthening peace, friendship, mutual assistance and cooperation with the Luhansk People's Republic.
President of the RSO noted in his speech that “7 years is both a small and at the same time a long period, because the term is measured not only in days, hours and years. In this case, in Donbass it is measured in human lives. "
“I am sometimes asked what connects South Ossetia, Donetsk, Lugansk, Russia. During the Great Patriotic War, Ossetians died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, died in Lugansk, Donetsk, Crimea. And in South Ossetia, Russian soldiers, defending us, died in 2008. Please tell me, can there be something higher and stronger than a blood connection? We have the same ideals, the same principles, and no one will be able to break this connection,” said Anatoly Bibilov.
The festive event continued with a festive concert.
