The Central Election Committee (CEC) of South Ossetia has decided to issue 40 000 ballots by the presidential election on March 25. This has been reported to IA "Res" by the Chairman of the CEC of South Ossetia Bella Plieva.
"At the today`s meeting we have unanimously made the decision to issue 40 000 ballots," - said Plieva.
According to her, the CEC members proceed from the fact that about 38,800 voters were in the lists of the polls during the presidential election in November 2011. "In accordance with the current regulations the number of spare ballots must be three percent of the electorate, existing in the polls - explained the CEC Chairman. - Thus, the total number of ballots that will be issued by March 25, 2012 should reach just over 39,600 units. So we decided to round up this amount and issue 40,000 ballots." The CEC Chairman has noted that, in accordance with the law, the ballots must be ready not later than 10 days before the voting day.

"By March 15 we will get them, and, according to the adopted procedure the CEC will stamp each of them in the upper right corner - continued Plieva. - Then we`ll distribute them among the five territorial election commissions based on the available number of voters there, and provide the number of the reserved ballots. And the territorial election commissions, in turn, will distribute them among their divisional election committees." Plieva has added that at that time the informational materials of the CEC of South Ossetia will also be ready and should be distributed with the ballots. "They will contain information about a sample ballot, rules and procedures for its filling and so on, as well as short biographies of the candidates for president and small abstracts of their election programs," - said the head of the CEC. "During the meeting, we unanimously chose and the form of the stamp, which will be affixed to the passports of the voters. We already have a sketch of it, and these days it will be made"- said Plieva. According to her, the registered candidates for president of the Republic South Ossetia are holding their election campaigns without violating the law. "At the moment the Central Election Committee has not registered any violations of the law by the presidential candidates or their supporters; all their actions are being held within the law", - she has underlined. Chairman of the CEC of South Ossetia added that the CEC had not received any oral or written complaints from the candidates or their staffs about any violations.
