South Ossetia stands for further comprehensive deepening and development of integration with Russia, - Bibilov

The people of South Ossetia see their future only together with Russia, the Republic is actively working on the development of full-fledged relations, said President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov.

“On the basis of the Treaty of Alliance and Integration of March 18, 2015, the legal framework of bilateral cooperation is being strengthened, economic and humanitarian ties are developing, interaction in the field of defense and security is successfully going on,” said the head of state, speaking at a solemn meeting timed to the Day recognition of the independence of the Republic by Russia.

According to him, South Ossetia has consistently advocated the further comprehensive deepening and development of integration with Russia.

“The border between our two countries, if at this stage the conditions for its abolition have not yet emerged, should turn into a conditional line on the map, without creating artificial obstacles to moving towards the highest possible level of integration,” the Pesident said.

He has stressed that thanks to Russia, reliable protection of the Republic from external encroachments has been ensured: "the security of our borders and a peaceful sky over our country are guaranteed."

“The country's international positions have been strengthened. Thanks to Russia, South Ossetia is living with firm confidence in its future,”he said.

Anatoly Bibilov has stated that the decision of the Russian Federation to recognize South Ossetia was legally justified and impeccable from moral, ethical, humanistic, human positions.

"The carefully planned military aggression of the criminal Saakashvili regime against South Ossetia canceled out the long-term peacekeeping efforts of Russia and was a gross violation of Georgia's international obligations," the head of state recalled.

Russia was the first country in the world to make a decision to recognize the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. On August 26, South Ossetia will celebrate the 12th anniversary of the recognition of independence.

This great historic day was preceded by two nationwide referendums on independence held in the Republic, many years of armed conflict with Georgia, genocides committed by Georgia against the South Ossetians. Thousands of South Ossetian citizens gave their lives for freedom and independence.

August 26 is included in the calendar of public holidays and memorable dates.

A weekend has been announced in the Republic from August 26 to 30, festive events are being held: a solemn meeting with the participation of the public, an exhibition, a car rally and concerts.
