The results of re-election of President of South Ossetia, held March 25, 2012, were totally predictable and expected. It has been stressed by Director General of Centre for Monitoring Democratic Processes «Quorum» Alexei Kochetkov in an interview with IA "Res".

"The election results were absolutely predictable for us, but the intrigue, of course, persisted until the last day. Elections in South Ossetia were held in full compliance with international standards, the percentage of technical violations is minor and can not affect the outcome of the elections",-said Kochetkov. He predicted that the election campaigns of the presidential candidates-winners of the second round-will be much tougher and more principled.
"The stakes, of course, will be raised, but I hope that everything will remain within the legal framework. The practice of holding the election campaign in South Ossetia showed that usually some surprises were expected just before the Election Day, but in the day of voting everything is held in a civilized manner, all the parties keep the high level of political culture, common sense, keep within the law "- he underlined. Kochetkov also expressed hope that the second round of presidential elections would be transparent, democratic and peaceful as the previous one.
