The representative office of the Russian Historical Society in South Ossetia is actively working to preserve historical memory and prevent historical injustice, Roman Gobozov, chairman of the representative office's youth club and head of the student council at the South Ossetian State University has noted.

"Our club was created last April by the representative office of the Russian Historical Society, headed by our University's rector, Vadim Tedeev," Gobozov said.

The International Economic Forum "South Ossetia. Investment Horizons" has won the award in the "Development and Promotion of Tourist Destinations" category of the prestigious RUPOR competition, Taimuraz Goginov, Chairman of the Forum Organizing Committee, has announced.

"The Forum has received its first professional recognition as a platform for promoting the Republic's investment potential.

This is recognition of the value of our work, which is being carried out to create and strengthen South Ossetia's image as the attractive destination for business and travel," he said.

A representative office of the Russian state-run Fatherland Defenders Foundation will be opened in South Ossetia. Acting Health Minister Soslan Naniev announced this at the press conference in Tskhinval.

South Ossetia will present a national exhibit at the 33rd international exhibition of food, beverages, and raw materials for their production, Prodexpo 2026. The exhibition will be held from February 9 to 12 at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center. This was announced by Taimuraz Goginov, the Republic's trade representative in the Russian Federation.

On January 21, the South Ossetian border guards detained Gela Berianidze, the Georgian citizen and resident of Bershueti in the Gori Municipality, for violating the state border, the Republic's KGB press service reports.

"It was established that the violator had intentionally crossed the South Ossetian-Georgian border near the village of Amdzarin in Leningor District," the agency has noted.

On January 22, Berianidze was expelled from the Republic.

Republic of Belarus remains the important humanitarian and cultural partner for South Ossetia, united by a shared history and the memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War. This was stated by Acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia Akhsar Dzhioev.

According to him, the ties between the peoples have deep historical roots.

South Ossetia will continue constructive cooperation with Venezuela despite the worsening political crisis in the country, Acting Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev announced during the press conference.

He has noted that Tskhinval officially condemns the abduction of President Nicolás Maduro, considering it a gross violation of the UN Charter, but does not intend to curtail diplomatic contacts with the state that has recognized the Republic's independence.

South Ossetia will continue to demonstrate to the world its status as a reliable outpost of the Russian Federation, including by expanding support programs for participants in the special military operation. This was announced by Vadim Tedeev, Rector of the South Ossetian State University, at the meeting of the Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature in Tskhinval.

He has emphasized that the activities of the University and the APRYAL are inextricably linked to supporting state policy and defenders of the Fatherland.

А working meeting between South Ossetia's Ambassador to Russia, Znaur Gassiev, and Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Russian Federation, Jesús Rafael Salazar Velázquez, took place in Moscow, the press service of the Embassy of the Republic of South Ossetia in the Russian Federation reports.

During the meeting, Znaur Gassiev expressed solidarity with the Venezuelan people and reaffirmed South Ossetia's position on supporting the policy of the friendly state.

South Ossetian authorities have expelled two Georgian citizens detained for violating state border regulations. This was reported by the State Security Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia.

According to the agency, on January 13, 2026, the border guards detained Nika Kokoshvili (born 2006) and Guram Grdzelishvili (born 1999)-residents of the village of Takhtisdziri in the Kareli Municipality.
