Ossetian village of Ortev came under mortar fire

Another provocation took place at the Georgian'Ossetian borderline. The village of Ortev, Tskhinval region of South Ossetia, came under. At 2205 hrs, on 2 August, three mortart shots were made from the Georgian village of Plavi, 1 km from Ortev, in the area adjacent to the borderline. One of the shells exploded in the outskirts of the village, reported the South Ossetian Ministry for Defense.
"The South Ossetian side did not respond to the provocation and did not open fire", underscored the report.
According to the SO Defense Ministry, no destruction or casualties were reported. "An investigation crew of the RSO law enforcement bodies will arrive on the spot in the morning on 4 August to check the situation on the ground and record the findings", said the report.
This has been the third mortar-shelling trough the last few days.

On 30 July, two mortar shots were made from Nikozi at the outskirts of Tskhinval with no casualties. The second similar incident took place on 1 August. In the morning, at 9025 hrs a.m., two mortar shots were made from the Georgian village of Ditsi at the SO MoD checkpoint in the bordering Ossetian village of Ered.
