The investigating department of the KGB of South Ossetia has instituted the criminal proceedings on the fact of assaulting upon the border guard detachment under the article 317 of the Law (encroachment upon life of the employee of the law-enforcement body) and under the article 322 (illegal crossing of the State border). It has been reported IA "Res" by the press-service of KGB in the RSO. On 18 May, near the village Lopan in Znaurskiy region the border guard detachment of the Border service of KGB in South Ossetia was fired in the course of patrolling the boundary of South Ossetia.
The operative-investigating group of KGB in the RSO has left for the place of the incident for conducting the examining measures; - we have been explained at the press-service. - In the course of the examination the exact place of the border incident has been fixed, the fact of firing the border guards on the territory of South Ossetia has been officially confirmed and recorded". According to the information of KGB, the investigators discovered the material evidence, including - cartridge cases and patrons from smoothbore weapon with steadfast scent of gunpowder, as well as the bloody marks, leading to the state border of the RSO and Georgia, that proves the involvement of the citizens of the neighboring country to firing of the border guards. The information about the wounds of the attackers, as it has been noted at the press-service, is confirmed by the statements of the Georgian mass media.
