Activities for engineering support of the border area of South Ossetia held on the territory of the Republic do not affect the territory of Georgia. This was told reporters by Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of South Ossetia on post-conflict settlement Khokh Gagloyty before the meeting of the participants of Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI) in the Georgian village of Ergneti.
"The works are being carried out in the territory of the Republic of South Ossetia, at a distance from the state border, deep into the territory of South Ossetia, so these works do not affect the territory of Georgia," - said Gagloyty.

He has stressed that in the MPRI format the Georgian side was repeatedly proposed to start works on the implementation of a comprehensive definition of the state border line to avoid the nuances that cause misunderstanding of the parties.
"We must understand that we should not focus on any concrete area of the state border - said Gagloyty. - We should not try to solve the problems in a particular area at the time of their occurrence. This issue must be resolved systematically, requiring a bilateral coherent approach, and then there will be no inaccuracies and misunderstandings. "
Gagloyty has specified that during the engineering activities of the state border, Russian border guards are guided by a map of the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast, compiled before the collapse of the Soviet Union.
"In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia, the boundaries are, respectively, the boundaries of the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast", - explained Gagloyty.
It should be noted that at this moment in the Georgian village of Ergneti, which borders on the Republic of South Ossetia, the 34th meeting is being held in the format of Mechanisms for Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI).
The parties will discuss the situation in the areas adjacent to the border of South Ossetia and traditionally, the incidents all around the state border of South Ossetia and Georgia, occurred since the last meeting of MPRI (April 16, 2013).
