South Ossetia has no relation to the territorial integrity of Georgia, told the news agency "Res" the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs and Inter-parliamentary Relations Igor Kochiev, commenting on the speech of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.
In his speech at the 69th session of the UN General Assembly Garibashvili called on Ossetians and Abkhazians to "participate" in the "successful full restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia."
"I would not attach importance to the statement made by the Prime Minister of Georgia even from the rostrum of the United Nations. We know the value of such statements and not the first time we hear them from the lips of the Georgian politicians,"- said the MP.
Kochiev has stressed that Georgia in violation of the UN Charter and the obligations under international agreements, launched a war against South Ossetia and for two decades led a policy of genocide against the Ossetian people.
"Why Georgian politicians do not talk about irreparable human losses suffered by the people of South Ossetia? Why, speaking of the return of refugees, they do not talk about this soil, soaked with the blood of the innocently killed children, the elderly, women, thousands of Ossetian refugees from Georgia, who suddenly lost everything. Calling Russia the aggressor, Georgia and its Western allies once again reaffirm their commitment to double standards when interpreting the fundamental principles and the rules of law, applying them differently depending on the subjective interests, "- said the deputy.
Kochiev has stressed that South Ossetian statehood is based on the will of the people, and the decrees of the President of the Russian Federation have consolidated the path of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
"As for the territorial integrity of Georgia - I want to remind the Georgian authorities that in 1774 Ossetian representatives voluntarily signed the agreement on accession to Russia, and after the collapse of the Russian Empire established the South Ossetian Soviet Republic. And in 1922, after the first genocide, against the will of the people, South Ossetia was part of Georgia with the status of an autonomous region. We have our own way not related to the territorial issues of Georgia, "- said Kochiev.
The leadership of the Republic has repeatedly declared the position of reconciliation - Georgia's recognition of the genocide of the Ossetian people, recognition of the armed aggression, recognition of the independence of the Republic, etc.
"Only after that we can speak about rapprochement and reconciliation", - concluded the politician.
