The South Ossetian delegation in Geneva focused on the threats coming from Georgia. As noted at a briefing in Tskhinval by the South Ossetian Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev, the Geneva discussions on security in the Transcaucasus always take place in a difficult situation.
“All participants at the meeting have noted that for the period since the previous round the situation was relatively calm - there were no any excesses that would aggravate the situation, in general. But our delegation has noted that it only seems so, since the Georgian side by regular provocations aggravates the situation in the areas adjacent to the border of South Ossetia with Georgia,” said the Envoy.
According to him, the South Ossetian delegation described in detail the situation in the area of the village of Isaky kau, where the South Ossetian border guards carried out the work on designation the state border-line by the relevant barrier structures.
“We, as always, carried out the work unilaterally at a certain distance from the territory of Georgia,” said Dzhioev. “The Georgian side, which we warned in advance, in turn, used the work carried out for certain PR actions and propaganda purposes — various forces of Georgia gathered at the border, ranging from presidential candidates to public organizations, indecent shots, seen by almost everyone”
The Envoy has noted that members of the South Ossetian delegation in Geneva expressed their vision of maintaining artificial tension by Georgia in the areas adjacent to the border of South Ossetia.
“At the same time, we have emphasized that the Georgian authorities are doing this against the background of the ongoing build-up of relations with NATO and the US Armed Forces, and also noted the biological threat that comes from the territory of Georgia,” the Plenipotentiary said. - The Lugar Laboratory is not a place where peaceful experiments are conducted, it is supplied by the Pentagon, American specialists work there. And the continuing emergence of diseases, mainly livestock in South Ossetia, is the result of the activities of this institution.”
