Representatives of South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Russia at the meeting in Geneva expressed serious concern about the growing presence of NATO in Georgia and activation of steps to draw Georgia into the military bloc, the press service of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy for post conflict settlement of South Ossetia reports.

“It was pointed out that regular military exercises with the participation of NATO contingents in close proximity to the borders of South Ossetia are a threat to regional stability and security, and the direct participation of Georgian regular army units in these exercises could again provoke the Georgian leadership to take steps fraught with unpredictable consequences” , - the press service said.

The 49th round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in Transcaucasia, held in accordance with the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreements of August 12 and September 8, 2008, took place on October 8-9, 2019 in Geneva. The discussions were attended by delegations of the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation, the USA, as well as the EU, UN and OSCE representatives. The South Ossetian delegation was led by Presidential Plenipotentiary for Post-Conflict Resolution Murat Dzhioev.
