During his visit to the Artsakh Republic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, Dmitry Medoev, visited the Museum of Fine Arts in the city of Shushi, where he met with Adviser to the President of the Artsakh Republic, academician of the USSR Academy of Natural Sciences Grigory Gabrielyants, the press service of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry reported.
“The museum’s foundation was created on the basis of gifts from Artsakh’s friends, on the initiative and with the support of Professor Grigory Gabrielyants,” the press service said.
At the meeting, Dmitry Medoev presented a picture by the Tskhinval artist Valery Avagimov
“The Way Home” as a gift to the founder of the museum.
Earlier, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, visiting the gallery of the city of Shushi, expressed the wish to replenish the museum with the paintings by artists from South Ossetia.
The academician has expressed gratitude to the head of state for such a prompt response and a wonderful gift, assuring that the picture will take its rightful place in the rich collection of the Shushi museum.
The Minister, in turn, noted that this painting was the first swallow from South Ossetia in a number of subsequent works of Ossetian masters of fine arts.
