The preparation and details of a draft agreement on the establishment of twinning relations between Tskhinval and Vladivostok were discussed at the meeting of the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev and the Chairman of the Vladivostok Duma Andrei Brik in the Duma of Vladivostok on January 15, the Foreign Ministry press service reports. The initiative to conclude an agreement was earlier made by the Vladivostok Duma, the parties outlined the date of signing
The honorary consul of South Ossetia in the Far Eastern Federal District Jason Demeev also took part in the meeting.
Dmitry Medoev thanked Andrei Brick for the warm welcome, emphasizing that the leadership of South Ossetia is aimed at comprehensively expanding and deepening relations with the Russian Federation, including at the regional level.
Foreign Minister Medoev has also noted that he arrived in Vladivostok on behalf of the President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov and confirmed the readiness of the South Ossetian leadership to intensify work in the Far East region, to expand the existing ties.
Andrei Brik, for his part, thanked Dmitry Medoev for his interest in developing cooperation and expressed confidence that the establishment of twinning ties between Vladivostok and Tskhinval would serve as an impetus for the dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two peoples and states.
The head of the Duma has noted that Vladivostok has twin-city relations with sixteen cities from different countries, including Vladikavkaz, within the framework of which a wide cultural exchange is carried out, trade and economic relations, and tourism are developing.
Brik has also informed that the initiative of the deputies on the establishment of twinning relations between Vladivostok and Tskhinval was supported by the head of the city Oleg Gumenyuk. A corresponding draft agreement has already been prepared, which will be transferred to the leadership of the Republic of South Ossetia and the city of Tskhinval for familiarization and joint detailed revision of the document.
