The Round table #DonbassbeZgenocide” with the participation of students from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Russia, Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics was held online on Thursday.

The event was organized by the center of youth diplomacy "Legatus" in Donetsk.

Its participants unanimously decided to send an open letter to the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the world's leading media and the entire world community calling for an end to the genocide in Donbas.

“For the eighth year, the long-suffering people of Donbass are being exhausted by aggression from the Ukrainian state. A terrible event – the shelling of Donetsk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 14 using the Tochka Y tactical missile system became another deep wound in our hearts. Instead of reacting to the monstrous actions of Kyiv, representatives of the so-called civilized world preferred to continue to pretend that nothing was happening,” said Alina Zyuzina, director of the Legatus Youth Diplomacy Center.

She has noted that over the past eight years, only according to the official data of the report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights dated January 27, 2022, the total number of casualties as a result of the armed aggression of Ukraine is 51-54 thousand.

“Of these, 14.2-14.4 thousand were killed and 37-39 thousand were wounded. In reality, the number of victims could be much higher,” Zyuzina specified.

A student of the South Ossetian State University Aslan Tsaraev drew attention to the importance of bringing objective information to the world community.

“We see that the truth is being blocked today. Let me give you an example: a French journalist tried to convey on air that it was the Ukrainian authorities who were shooting civilians in Donbass, the commentators simply turned her off the air,” the student noted.

Tsaraev has reminded that the information about the war in South Ossetia in August 2008 was also beinh distorted by the world community.

“At that time, the information that came from Georgia dominated, and the information about flagrant crimes by the Georgian security forces, which Mikhail Saakashvili sent to carry out genocide against the Ossetian people, was deliberately blocked,” he stressed.

During the round table, it was noted that without exception, all the crimes of the Kiev regime in the Donbass should be investigated, and those responsible for the bloody atrocities should be justly punished.

It was announced the launch of the #DonbassbeZgenocide campaign in social networks. The participants of the round table called for sharing this hashtag in Russian and English under publications confirming the crimes of the Ukrainian armed forces against the civilian population of Donbass.
