The South Ossetian delegation in Geneva invited the Georgian side to start joint bilateral work on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border between the two republics, the press service of the office of the Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement reports.
"During the consultations, it has been noted that the Geneva discussions remain the only platform for discussing current issues and threats that require attention and a prolonged freeze on the process may negatively affect stability and security in the region," the press service said.
They noted that the first working group focused on discussing current issues of regional security and ensuring a stable situation on the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia.
“The South Ossetian delegation drew the attention of the participants to the ongoing periodic border provocations from the Georgian side, the facts of deliberate violation of the state border regime and the need to continue marking the state border line with engineering structures as a real factor in reducing the number of such violations. At the same time, the South Ossetian delegation reiterated the proposal to the Georgian side to start joint bilateral work on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border between the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia,” the Plenipotentiary's Office said.
