The security forces of South Ossetia and North Ossetia-Alania are working jointly, establishing interaction at the highest level, President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev noted during a meeting with Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Demyan Laptev.
The head of state noted the positive results in improving the activities of law enforcement agencies, achieved through fruitful interdepartmental interaction.
“We are one nation. Today, in such a difficult time, when we face very serious challenges, the security forces are working jointly and establishing interaction at the highest level. This is important,” Alan Gagloev is quoted by his press service.
The President identified drug trafficking as one of the main problems.
“The fight against drug trafficking is our common and important goal. We must make every effort to eradicate it,” he said.
Demyan Laptev, for his part, thanked Alan Gagloev for the invitation.
“Alan Eduardovich, I am glad to meet you. This is a great honor for me. Of course, the stronghold of stability and security in the South Caucasus is cooperation between the Russian Federation and South Ossetia.
North and South Ossetia are fraternal republics, and we are not only ready, we are obliged to cooperate. The work will definitely be constructive. The direction that you outlined regarding the illegal distribution of drugs is the most important thing; this is a terrible evil that is destroying our younger generation. We are ready to work and interact in this direction,” the Minister has assured.
Alan Gagloev also raised the issue of tinted cars with the South Ossetian license plates in North Ossetia.
The meeting then continued without representatives of the media.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Alan Guchmazov, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia Erislav Mamiev, and Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs for North Ossetia-Alania Taimuraz Tsibirov.
