Alexander Novak: the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission with South Ossetia set new ambitious goals

The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission with South Ossetia confirmed successful development and set new ambitious goals, said Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak.

The 23rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for the Development of Trade and Economic Cooperation between Russia and the Republic of South Ossetia was held on the sidelines of the Caucasus Investment Forum (CIF).

Novak expressed gratitude to President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev for his personal participation, which "gave impetus to the work of the commission".

He gas emphasized that a wide range of issues were discussed during the meeting, and the key outcome was the successful completion of the implementation of the State Program for Assistance to Socio-economic Development of the Republic of South Ossetia for the Period 2022–2025.

"All tasks have been completed," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The achieved results

Novak gas emphasized that the growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of South Ossetia amounted to 32.5% based on the results of last year relative to the start of the program.

He also noted the growth of wages in the Republic, with the level of payments leveled to the indicators of the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) with the support of the Russian Federation.

"The volume of investments has grown by 28.5%, the integration of customs authorities has been fully completed, which creates opportunities for the normal operation of customs authorities and ensuring trade turnover between our countries," Novak has noted.

According to him, considerable attention was paid to the new state program of socio-economic development until 2030.

"We have agreed that by the end of this year the program and the main approaches, sources of financing for the period until 2030 will be developed," Alexander Novak said.

The new program will include new indicators and targets for the growth of the economy of the Republic of South Ossetia, the creation of new jobs, the growth of per capita income and investment volumes.

The meeting also discussed issues of increasing trade turnover between the countries, eliminating barriers to business, developing energy infrastructure and other aspects of social development, including the provision of pensions, he said.

"South Ossetia is our strategic partner, a friendly country," Alexander Novak hsd emphasized.

He also expressed gratitude to his friends in South Ossetia, represented by President Alan Gagloev, for their position in supporting the special military operation, noting that the servicemen who are on the front lines today represent the Republic of South Ossetia, and that they have common historical tasks, as friendly countries.

In conclusion, Novak said that Russia would continue to fulfill the instructions of President of the Russian Federation to develop relations, trade and economic cooperation and provide support.
