What are the authorities of Georgia preparing for?

19/09/2012 - 09:12

On the eve of parliamentary elections the domestic political struggle in Georgia became extremely heated. And the priorities in the Georgian society are not in favor of Saakashvili.
There is a possibility that the population of the country, tired of the ill-conceived and adventurist policy of the current regime, will give their votes to "renovationists" in the person of supporters of B. Ivanishvili.
Naturally, Saakashvili will never accept such political spectrum.

"NATO – kindergarten of the XXI Century"

18/09/2012 - 11:13

One of the most popular topics in the Georgian media is the strategic command-staff maneuvers "Caucasus-2012", which has started today, September 17, 2012. Georgian media regularly publish the articles and broadcast the discussions associated with these maneuvers. The main objective of these broadcastsis to suggest an idea to the Georgian and international community that after such maneuvers in 2008 Georgia became involved in a war with Russia and has lost 20% of its original territory occupied by Moscow. The fact that in August 2008 it was the Georgian army which attacked the Russian peacekeepers, who had been serving in accordance with the interstate Dagomys agreement and it was Georgia, which tried to wipe the South Ossetian capital together with its inhabitants off the map, has not been even indirectly mentioned in the Georgian media.

Review of the Georgian Media: Saakashvili is nervous and has refused civil rights to the Georgians, residing in Russia; the Georgian people are looking forward to Ivanishvili

11/09/2012 - 18:50

On the eve of the parliamentary elections the Georgian ruling party-National Movement - is obviously nervous. It has more than a good reason to fear that Bidzina Ivanishvili and his Georgian dream will wrest the initiative from Saakashvili. This may thwart the ruling power to transform Georgia from a presidential to a parliamentary republic with a strong prime minister, in the chair of which the president is seeing himself after the presidential election. On the one hand, it would provide continuity in the Georgian domestic and foreign policy, and on the other – it would exacerbate the last two years stagnation in various spheres of public life.

Review of the Georgian Media: suspicious special operation, carefully calculated rhetoric of Saakashvili, pre-election campaign, charges of the government and the opposition

04/09/2012 - 11:19

Almost forgotten Georgia has decided to perform again on the world arena by "special operation" against the "North Caucasian militants", allegedly carried out near the border with Russia. Official announcements of the Georgian authorities have raised a few questions. First, if the militants penetrated into the territory of Georgia from Russia, fleeing from persecution of the government forces, then could it be that these places had not been familiar to them? Second, if these places were familiar to the militants, doesn’t it mean that they had already been there? Third, if they have already been there, is it possible, that the Georgian security agencies didn`t know of this fact? Fourth, if the gunmen have already been there, they could not help knowing that the Georgian security agencies had been informed of this, then what sense was to take the hostages? Fifth: If they took hostages, what sense was to exchange the helpless hostages for the professionally trained fighters of the Georgian power structures?

Review of the Georgian Media: Saakashvili is whitewashed for launching the war, "Nabucco" in anticipation of the problems, the government and the opposition are fighting sluggishly

28/08/2012 - 17:53

On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the recognition of South Ossetia, the Georgian pro-governmental media has published articles with justification of the military actions unleashed by Georgia in August 2008.
They did not evade the former adviser to President Vladimir Putin - Andrei Illarionov, who has devoted now his life to the struggle against Russia.

The attempts of the West to create the anti-Russian sentiments in the Caucasus require more active and effective reaction of Russia

23/08/2012 - 22:19

The Western countries, which adopt the leading positions in the aggressive military-political bloc of NATO, actively continue to intervene in the internal affairs of Russia.
Their goal, in particular, is the expulsion of Russia from South Ossetia, the destruction of the South Ossetian State (and also, as in 1991 - 2008 - the holocaust of the people of South Ossetia) as well as destabilization of the situation in the North Caucasus in order to separate it from Russia and make it their protectorate and a springboard for further military actions against the rest of the Russian state.

The EU supports Georgia through "soft power"

18/05/2012 - 11:04

The emergence of the next EU report on Georgia was not accidental. After coming to power in Georgia by Mikhail Saakashvili, the country's accession to the European Union ("the return to the European nation’s family") was proclaimed one of the foreign policy priorities. Despite the fact that Brussels has reacted to this idea without much enthusiasm, the EU flags have been raised over many state agencies of Georgia. It reminds many citizens of Tbilisi the foreign occupation.

Whether the OSCE admission to South Ossetia is real?

07/01/2012 - 11:54

Recently voices for OSCE admission to South Ossetia have once again been heard from Tbilisi. This organization was working in our country during 15 years. The period from 1993 to 2008 was quite enough to understand its essence. What the OSCE means for South Ossetia knows everyone: false provocative and actually inciting to attacking us, slanderous fabrications under the pretext of «objective reports on a situation in a conflict zone».

Some conclusions of the first round

17/11/2011 - 13:28

The first round of the presidential election has been completed. The EU, NATO and PACE, as usual, declared they had not recognized its results. I would like to remind them that South Ossetia is the recognized state and the most important thing for the people is that the elections were held in accordance with the international standards. In spite of numerous statements and accusations, the principle of democratic change of power through the elections is retained in South Ossetia. As it is known, in contrast to many internationally recognized countries, which feel very comfortable in the UN and other international organizations, the power in South Ossetia is not replaced by coups and revolutions, but exclusively in accordance with Law. So it was in 1993, in 2001 and in 2011. The elections and the pre-election campaign have been held without any significant violations.
