South Ossetia is concerned about Georgia's intention to increase its military capacities, said First Deputy Foreign Minister of South Ossetia Alan Pliev, commenting on Georgian media reports that Israel was ready to send a shipments of new tanks Merkava-4 to Georgia.
"We are concerned about Georgia's intention to increase its military capacities. Now Georgia is planning to buy a number of Israeli tanks Mercano-4, which are clearly not meant for defensive action. Activation of the Georgian Defense Ministry, the increased flights of Georgian drones near the borders of South Ossetia, as well as the maniacal opposition to sign a nonaggression paper give rise to reasonable assumption on newly designed bloody venture of the Georgian authorities. Effective guarantees of security for Georgia would be to refrain from aggressive intentions and interaction with countries of the region to seek peaceful ways of conflict settlement ", said Pliev.
He noted that according to experts, the military potential of Georgia in terms of its technical component exceeds that of August 2008.
