The Euro-Parliament resolution on Georgia, adopted on November, 17, has no any political value for South Ossetia and Abkhazia. It has been declared IA "RES" by the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of South Ossetia Mira Tskhovrebova; she has made comments on the resolution adopted by the European Parliament, which contains appeal to Russia on withdrawing its troops from the RSO and Abkhazia and also the appeal to the European Union - to recognize the young Transcaucasian states as the «occupied territories of Georgia».
«The resolution does not reflect the historical and political realities in the Caucasus. The Euro-Parliament is still pursuing a policy of double standards – otherwise, why the similar resolution has not been adopted on Kosovo? However, in this case the sovereignty of Kosovo meets the interests of the European countries, and in case with South Ossetia and Abkhazia - the European members of parliament simply once again have supported interests of Georgia as their ally and the champion of their interests in the region», - Tskhovrebova has underlined. She has reminded that South Ossetia and Abkhazia – are the recognized states and the resolution adopted by the Euro-Parliament cannot affect their status in any way and the geopolitical situation in the Caucasus.
