A new book has been issued about the events of August 2008 in South Ossetia

A book "The Code of Tragedy: 08/08/08" (White Paper on the crimes committed by Georgia against Russian peacekeepers and civilians in South Ossetia and Abkhazia in August 2008) has been issued based on the materials of the criminal case being investigated by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

The book provides the evidence of the participants of these tragic events, photos and documents. All materials are the evidence of crimes committed by Georgia, while attacking the positions of the Russian peacekeepers stationed in South Ossetia under special international protection.
The materials of the book illustrate the picture of the events of August 2008, which was thoroughly restored by the investigating committee as a result of careful examination of hundreds of crime scenes, interrogation of thousands of the witnesses and the analysis of about 600 legal expertise and other investigative actions
In addition, the book contains stories of eyewitnesses – the mainstream media journalists who were at the time on the spot. The photographic publications give a clear idea of ​​what weapons the Georgian troops were firing at the Russian peacekeepers and the local population and the chances to rescue the victims.
The book also shows the position of some foreign media, allowing to form an idea how was conducted not only the military, but also the accompanying information campaign.
All this allows the reader to follow step by step the chronology of the armed aggression, to make an objective assessment of what has happened in accordance with the international law, and to recognize the scale of the tragedy.
The book has been published in Russian, English and French.
