Commission on the political and legal assessment of Georgia's aggression against South Ossetia began its work

The first meeting of the Commission for giving political and legal assessment of Georgia's aggression against South Ossetia has been held in the Parliament of South Ossetia. As IA "Res" was informed at the information-analytical center of the Parliament, the meeting had been held on March 14 under the chairmanship of the Speaker Stanislav Kochiev.

Vice Speaker Yuri Dzitstsoity made a speech on the formation and the work of the Commission. He has noted that the Committee was established by order of the Parliament. It was created a set of documents relating to the work of the Commission and it has already started the process of collecting materials.
The report should be ready by March 22. By March 26 should be developed the concept of the events of 2008, 2004, and on March 27 the document must be submitted to the Parliament of South Ossetia. He has reminded that the Chairman of the Commission is Stanislav Kochiev, and his deputies - a head of the Presidential Administration of South Ossetia Boris Chochiev and Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Yuri Dzitstsoity. He proposed the appointment to the post of the head of the secretariat of the Commission a Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Law and local Self-government Amiran Diaconov, his assistant Aza Tedeeva, a secretary of the Commission Mziya Lapachi.
Boris Chochiev on behalf of the President thanked the parliament for the quick response. He has reminded that August 23, 2008 a commission was established to determine the damage caused by Georgia during the war, and offered to join efforts with the old and the newly established commission. It was also voiced that it would be nice to hear the former leadership at the meeting of the Commission, which should answer a lot of questions.
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the KGB Boris Attoev, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Mira Tskhovrebova, chairmen of the parliamentary committees Amiran Diaconov, Eric Dudayty, Georgy Sanakoev, Mair Sanakoev, Gennady Kokoev, Defense Minister Valery Yakhnovets, Chairman of the Public Chamber Merab Zasseev, Presidential Commissioner for Human Rights Inal Tasoev.
The results of the first meeting of the Commission were announced by the Parliament Speaker Stanislav Kochiev. He noted that he had consulted the President of the Republic, and was produced a consensus that the political and legal assessment of the events of 2004-2008 should be given now. As for the calculation and assessment of the damage already caused, the work in this direction will continue. In this case, the mechanism of the parliamentary investigation will not be involved. He offered to adopt the agenda and a plan for the Commission. The next meeting of the Commission will be held on March 19.
