The state border of South Ossetia will be defined within the framework of the former South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast as part of the USSR, said the Secretary of the Security Council of South Ossetia Anatoly Pliev at a press conference in Tskhinval.
According to him, currently in South Ossetia are being carried out the works on delimitation of the state border and "no any statement of the neighboring country (Georgia) can influence on this process, as it is an internal matter of our Republic."
"The Georgian side today is not going to hold talks on the arrangement of the state border, but we are, regardless of this, are carrying out delimitation works within the framework of the former autonomous region as part of the USSR, in accordance with our legislation," - he said.
Pliev has noted that by the decision of the government of the Republic, from September 18, 2013 at all checkpoints of the simplified crossing of the state border between South Ossetian and Georgia will be imposed a ban on the passage of transport, including Leningor district.
" We cannot close the border completely. The work is under way to address the issues of the life support system in these remote areas, "- he said, adding that the government is currently developing a set of measures to preserve socio- economic stability in Leningor district, where the population is largely dependent on the import of commercial goods from Georgia.
Pliev has added that in the near future, within the framework of the Investment program to promote socio-economic development of the country, it is planned to implement the program of development of the border villages, including the construction of roads, housing and infrastructure, development of social sphere.
"Our task is to return the residents of these areas. The state border cannot be strengthened without the residents, "- emphasized Secretary of the Security Council.
