The program of the visit of Anatoly Bibilov to the Republic of Nicaragua has begun, the press service of the head of state reported. President of South Ossetia will take part in the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution.
At the Managua airport, Anatoly Bibilov was met by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Luis Alberto Molina Quadra, and the Adviser and special representative of the President of Nicaragua on trade, economic and investment cooperation with Russia, Laureano Ortega.
On the same day, Anatoly Bibilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncado.
The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, exchanged views on a wide range of issues.
The Minister noted that the arrival of a distinguished guest - the President of a friendly country in Nicaragua - is an important event.
"Celebrating the anniversary of the revolution has a very important historical and political significance for us. Your visit is regarded as another confirmation of the growing friendship and cooperation between the countries," said Denis Monkado. Anatoly Bibilov thanked for the invitation to take part in the event so significant for all Nicaraguans and congratulated the Minister on the 40th anniversary of historical events.
"It is very pleasant to be here on a day when the people of Nicaragua determined their future connected with justice and the development of the state. South Ossetia is pleased with all the positive steps of Nicaragua. Our peoples are similar in their striving for freedom," said President of South Ossetia.
He has noted the good dynamics of development of bilateral relations, having expressed confidence that in the future relations between the Republic of South Ossetia and the Republic of Nicaragua will only strengthen.
Anatoly Bibilov also visited the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nicaragua, where he met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Andrey Budayev.
The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The delegation of South Ossetia has included Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev, Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to the Republic of Nicaragua Narim Kozaev.
On July 19, 1979, the Sandinista National Liberation Front defeated the dictatorship of Anastasio Somoza Debayle and began a process of socio- economic transformation for the benefit of the majority of Nicaraguan residents. Since then, this day is traditionally celebrated in the country as a public holiday.
Nicaragua is located between two world oceans - the Pacific and the Atlantic (Caribbean Sea). The population of Nicaragua is, first of all, Indians and descendants of mixed Indian-Spanish marriages - mestizos.
Nicaragua recognized the independence of South Ossetia on September 3, 2008, immediately following the Russian Federation (August 26, 2008) after the well-known military events of August 2008.
