Speaker of the South Ossetian Parliament, Alan Tadtaev, in his appeal on the 11th anniversary of the August 2008 war, published on the website of the legislative body, emphasized that “no matter how much time passes, people will remember the terrible wounds inflicted by the five-day war that claimed the lives of many of our compatriots “But our courageous and freedom-loving people showed their will and rallied in the face of the threat of extermination, and defended their native land, native language and culture, defended freedom and independence."
“We gained a victory over the aggressor at the cost of heavy losses, but today we are moving forward and developing, we are on the path of building a free democratic state, where the priority is to care for the welfare of the people, to improve the standard of living of the population," the Speaker of Parliament said in his address.
