President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov appointed on Friday by his decree Gennady Bekoev the Prime Minister of the Republic.
"In accordance with paragraph 5 of Article 50 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Ossetia, appoint Gennady Borisovich Bekoev Chairman of the Government of the Republic of South Ossetia," the decree of the head of state says.
This Decree comes into force from the date of its signing.
On Friday, deputies of the South Ossetian Parliament by a majority vote approved Gennady Bekoev's candidacy for the post of Prime Minister of the Republic.
President of the Republic took part in the meeting, and some of the opposition deputies, who had boycotted the session since last autumn, also attended. As a result of a secret ballot, 19 deputies voted for, 11 against, and one single-mandate member refused to participate in the voting.
After the resignation of the government on August 29, 2020, President of the Republic appointed Deputy Prime Minister Bekoev as Acting Prime Minister.
His candidacy for the post of head of government was presented by Bibilov for consideration by the deputies in the fall of last year, then the deputies could not gather for a meeting, due to the lack of a quorum, the issue was not considered.
Gennady Bekoev is 39 years old. He started working in the civil service in South Ossetia in 2004 at the Ministry of Defense. In 2017-2018, he headed the Republican committee of industry; in November 2018, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the government - Minister of Economic Development.
He underwent retraining under the program "State and Municipal Management" and studied at the Russian Academy of National Economy and State Service under the President of the Russian Federation (RANEPA) in the specialty "system of state and municipal service".
