People of South Ossetia have been seeking historical justice for centuries, and this justice is the entry of South Ossetia into the Russian Federation and unification with North Ossetia-Alania. This was stated by Parliament Speaker Alan Tadtaev at the press conference in Tskhinval following the consultations between the South Ossetian delegation and officials in Russia.
According to him, the leadership of South Ossetia has clearly expressed its position on this issue.
“We all heard, including our Russian colleagues, the message that was in the address of the President of the Republic of South Ossetia,” he has specified. “Consultations went on for more than two hours, where each of us expressed and substantiated his opinion.”
Tadtaev has noted that the people of South Ossetia need a referendum.
"Our people see themselves and their future only as part of Russia, and we conveyed this position to our Russian colleagues and saw their understanding, too," the Speaker said.
Tadtaev has noted that during the consultations of the South Ossetian delegation with the officials in Russia, the issue raised at the referendum scheduled for July 17 was discussed.
“We came to a common opinion that this issue should be discussed,” the Speaker has noted. “This is the age-old dream of our people and we must do everything to make this dream come true,” Tadtaev continued. “Our people will have their say, and I am sure that our Russian colleagues will hear us and make the only right decision, so the problem of the divided nation exists in the post-Soviet space only here. And we need to solve this problem.”
Tadtaev noted that historical justice must prevail and "Ossetia must be united."
