Representatives of South Ossetia took part in the IX regional conference of Russian compatriots from neighboring countries.
As Nadezhda Rassokhina, a participant of the conference, a member of the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in South Ossetia, told IA “Res”, the issues of consolidation of compatriots of neighboring countries in the conditions of modern challenges, preservation of the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War, protection of the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots in the world, preservation of Russian culture, etc. were discussed at the event.
“The conference was held in a very friendly atmosphere, and the participants presented very interesting reports,” she said.
The opportunity to speak at the event was also given to South Ossetia. According to Rassokhina, she made a presentation “Development of friendship and cooperation between South Ossetia and the Russian Federation. Strengthening interethnic peace, further maintaining the status of the Russian language in South Ossetia and the State policy of the Russian Federation aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots.
“As a result of the conference, a resolution was adopted. I was elected to the editorial board for drafting the resolution, it also included representatives of Abkhazia and Uzbekistan,” Rassokhina has added.
She said that she was also given a chance to speak on the topic of interaction between compatriots' organizations and the authorities of their countries of residence.
“This performance was unplanned. I spoke about the events held in the Republic by the Russian House and the Embassy of the Russian Federation, said that all departments of South Ossetia were actively involved in the work and interact with us. It was noted that fruitful work was underway together with the government of the Republic. It was also emphasized that our organization supported the policy of the leadership of South Ossetia, aimed at developing friendship and cooperation with Russia, at strengthening interethnic peace and harmony in the country,” she said.
Rassokhina expressed support for Russian compatriots living abroad of their historical homeland and faced with Russophobia.
“In my speech, I noted that we contribute to the preservation of historical memory, suppress attempts to falsify history and rehabilitate fascism in all its manifestations. She also added that the leadership of the Republic supported the special operation in Ukraine and many fighters from South Ossetia are taking part in it. Despite the fact that this speech was spontaneous, it was highly appreciated," the participant of the conference shared.
She has noted that such activities are necessary and have a positive effect.
