Recognition of the two sovereign states - South Ossetia and Abkhazia will take place sooner or later, and they will take their places in the United Nations, said Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, during the Moscow-Sukhum-Tskhinval video bridge on the Sputnik-South Ossetia platform.
In his opinion, this issue will largely depend on the results of the special military operation.
“The special military operation has a huge idea - to stop the Western world. The world always respects a country that has strength with powerful potential and is always ready to defend its position. I think that after we solve the problems of the special military operation, the situation will change in many respects both for Russia itself and for those countries that support it,” Dzhabarov said.
He has noted that without integration it is very difficult to survive in the modern world.
“I think that we must help the people of South Ossetia and Abkhazia to enter into integration processes at least with our country, and then Belarus and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union may show interest,” he has noted.
Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee has assured that Russia will be always protecting the interests of both South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
“If anyone has forgotten, let them remember what happened in August 2008, when they tried to infringe on the interests of the people of South Ossetia by force, but it did not work,” Dzhabarov said.
Dzhabarov has also emphasized that the Federation Council attaches great importance to contacts with parliamentarians of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
“We treat your countries with great respect, as equal partners, and I think that these two countries will still declare themselves and will be intensively developing in the union with the fraternal people of Russia,” Dzhabarov has added.
