South Ossetian border violator fined and expelled from the Republic

The Tskhinval District Court found the South Ossetian state border violator guilty and imposed a fine of 50 thousand rubles on him, the press service of the Republic’s KGB reported on Tuesday. On the same day, the offender was released and expelled from the republic according to the established procedure.

According to the department, on October 5, 2023, the Georgian citizen Georgiy Merabovich Darchiashvili, born in 1986, resident of Tbilisi, was detained by the South Ossetian border authorities for illegally crossing the state border of the republic.

“It was established that the said violator, while intoxicated, deliberately crossed the state border of the Republic of South Ossetia with Georgia in the vicinity of the settlement of Andoret, Tskhinval district,” the KGB reports.

Later, the court found Darchiashvili guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal crossing of the state border.”

The KGB reminds that any attempts to violate the state border regime of South Ossetia will be suppressed within the framework of the current legislation, and also calls on the competent authorities of Georgia to prevent such actions.
