On Sunday, the Head of State Alan Gagloev has received the delegates from the Donetsk People's Republic who arrived in South Ossetia to participate as observers in the elections to the deputy corps of the VIII convocation.

He called the elections a landmark event and noted that they were taking place calmly, despite the difficult situation. Gagloev also drew attention to the fact that the fighters from South Ossetia, together with their Russian brothers, are defending shoulder to shoulder for the future of states on the fields of the Northern Military District.

“I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the people of the Republic approach elections responsibly. It is gratifying to see that they are being held in compliance with the electoral legislation - this is noted by all political forces. South Ossetia has always supported and will support the Donetsk Republic. Thank you for being with us on such a fateful day,” Gagloev said.

First Deputy Chairman of the People's Council Sergei Prokopenko has noted that the people of the republics have gone through difficult trials.

“We have developed a very close relationship. Our parliamentarians conduct fruitful legislative activities aimed at the development of our states. Thank you for your support. We know that the fighters from South Ossetia were the first to respond to our tragedy and stood shoulder to shoulder with our soldiers,” Prokopenko said.

He has expressed confidence that the elections of deputies will take place without incidents.

“We were at the three polling stations and are confident that the elections will take place without any violations. Having talked with a number of candidates, it’s nice to hear that they understand that a mandate is not a privilege, but a great responsibility,” the Deputy Chairman added.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged memorable gifts.
