People of Ossetia have once again united to express their grief, said Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of North Ossetia Aslanbek Gutnov, who arrived in Tskhinval to take part in the mourning events dedicated to the next anniversary of the war in August 2008.
"This is not the first time I have taken part in such a mourning event, it would seem that 16 years have passed, but the wounds in the hearts of the people do not heal," he said.
Gutnov has noted that people of Ossetia will always remember the heroic feat of the most worthy sons of Ossetia and Russia.
"We must preserve this memory and pass it on to the generation of already grown children who, fortunately, did not live to see the nightmarish days of that bloody, terrible war," Gutnov has emphasized.
He has added that the younger generation should know at what price freedom is given.
"The Ossetian people bravely survived the terrible days of that bloody war, the test of fire, the test of meanness. And today residents of the State of Alania, our people look forward to tomorrow with confidence and build a peaceful future for their children," Gutnov noted. "President, who spoke before me, correctly has noted that a person who does not remember his past is deprived of future, so we must move forward, build out our future, but never forget those terrible days, the price at which today's peaceful life was achieved."
Gutnov continued, that people of Ossetia, are mourning for those people who became victims of the 08.08.08 war.
"We will never forget them, and today and tomorrow we will be remembering their names, their faces," he has concluded.
