In August, 31 violators of the legal regimes established on the state border of South Ossetia were detained at various sections of the state border, including 8 violators of the state border regime and 23 violators of the border regime, the press service of the Republic reports.
"For each of the above-mentioned facts, the border service of the State Security Committee conducted investigations, as a result of which a criminal case was initiated against one detainee, 24 people were subject to an administrative fine, one was expelled from South Ossetia without penalties, and five were issued warnings," the statement of the press service reads.
The KGB reminded citizens and guests of the Republic, as well as tourist groups planning their trips to vacation spots located within the border zone of the Republic, of the need to have identification documents with them - a passport, service ID, birth certificate (for minors), and for foreign citizens, in addition, a pass to the border zone.
"We draw the attention of the heads of district and rural administrations to the fact that in order to carry out agricultural work on the areas located in the border zone, it is necessary to obtain the appropriate permits in advance," the Committee has noted.
It was added that for their registration, citizens of the Republic must send an application for a permit to the KGB border service of the Republic at least three days before the start of the work, with the obligatory attachment of photocopies of their passports with a registration stamp.
"In order to obtain permission to carry out the works in the border zone, Russian citizens must also submit a corresponding application to the border service with a photocopy of their passport with a mark on registration at the place of residence in the Russian Federation, and citizens of other foreign countries, in addition, documents confirming temporary registration at the place of residence in South Ossetia and photocopies of their migration cards.
In any case, foreign citizens planning to carry out work in the border zone must obtain a pre-established pass for the right to stay in it," the Committee has noted.
The department has warned that deliberate violation of the legal regimes established on the state border and border territory entails not only administrative, but in some cases also criminal liability.
