A delegation of the South Ossetian Parliament has visited several polling stations in Abkhazia, where early presidential elections are taking place, the press service of the legislative body reports.
South Ossetian parliamentarians are present at the presidential elections in Abkhazia as international observers.
The delegation has included: Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-parliamentary Relations Zaza Driaev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Industry, Construction, Transport, Communications and Natural Resources Ivan Slanov and Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislation, Legality and Local Self-Government Alan Gagloev.
The head of the delegation Zaza Driaev has expressed confidence that the elections in Abkhazia will be held in an exclusively democratic manner, without going beyond the framework of international law.
"We have visited several polling stations this morning, the turnout was very high, the situation was calm, no violations have been observed, voters were in a good mood," the parliamentarian said.
It should be noted that early presidential elections are taking place in Abkhazia today. There are 152 polling stations opened in the country, and two more in Russia.
The voting started on Saturday morning, February 15. Polling stations opened at 8:00, and you can cast your vote until 20:00.
Five candidates are running for the post of head of state - Badra Gunba, Adgur Ardzinba, Robert Arshba, Oleg Bartsits and Adgur Khurkhumal. The winner will be the one who gets 50% and one more vote from the total number of voters.
