The meetings of the South Ossetian children's rights ombudsman in Moscow resulted in a number of important agreements aimed at improving the protection of human rights and cooperation with the international community. This was reported to "Res" by children's ombudsman of South Ossetia, Aelita Dzhioeva, commenting on the results of her visit.
The purpose of the visit was working meetings with the children's rights ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova, the human rights ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, the ombudsman of the Republic of Kenya Florence Kajuju and Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Russia, Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez.
The meetings were devoted to developing a strategy for protection of children's rights and expanding South Ossetia's international cooperation.
This work was carried out in accordance with the resolutions of international conferences organized on the initiative of Moskalkova, and on the basis of personal agreements with representatives of these countries.
"The results of the trip are positive, preliminary expectations from the meetings with colleagues and foreign human rights bodies were mostly justified. The main goal of all the working meetings was to expand the international cooperation in the field of human rights protection," Dzhioeva said.
Attention was paid to the issue of maternity capital. The Ombudsman has emphasized that changes in Russian legislation had an impact on the situation in South Ossetia.
"We told Maria Alekseyevna about the current social problems concerning our residents, in particular, about the issue of maternity capital. She has assured that we can contact her with an official letter, and within the framework of the current legislation, a favorable solution for our citizens will be found," she has noted.
The issues of supporting the families of the South Ossetian special military operation participants and the prospects for creating a youth center in the Republic were being also actively discussed.
"On the instruction of Lvova-Belova, the head of the federal youth center contacted them to discuss the opening such a center in South Ossetia," Dzhioeva has shared.
At the meeting with Tatyana Moskalkova, Aelita Dzhioeva received confirmation of support in solving problems related to the participants in the special operation and the families of the deceased servicemen.
The online meeting was held between the South Ossetian Commissioner and the Kenyan Ombudsman Florence Kajuju, where issues of interaction and cooperation in human rights activities were discussed .
"Considering Kenya's significant experience in international human rights activities, issues of interaction between the countries were discussed. This is the important step in expanding South Ossetia's international cooperation. Moskalkova assured of support in establishing contacts with human rights defenders from other countries," Dzhioeva said.
According to her, Russian colleagues shared methodological manuals and plans for human rights work.
They will also invite people to seminars on mastering the methods and organizational foundations of human rights activities.
The meeting with the Venezuelan Ambassador was dedicated to the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with Anahí Josefina Arizmendi Ramírez, the head of the Autonomous Institute of the National Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents under the Ministry of People's Power of the Office of President of Venezuela.
Dzhioeva emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation with the Bolivarian Republic, which was one of the first to recognize the independence of South Ossetia.
The children's ombudsman has noted that all the international contacts are aimed at strengthening the international status of South Ossetia and its further recognition as a subject of international law.
