Valery Pikalyov, Head of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, inspected the Lower Zaramag multi-purpose automobile checkpoint on the border with South Ossetia. This was reported by the press service of the Customs Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia.
During the visit, the head of the Service assessed the organization of interaction with the customs authorities of South Ossetia and discussed plans for developing the checkpoint's infrastructure with representatives of the Customs Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia and the Federal State Budgetary Institution Rosgranstroy.
Currently, the actual average daily throughput of the Lower Zaramag checkpoint is 1,082 passenger cars and 73 trucks.
To optimize the checkpoint's operation, five new control lines have been created, measures are being implemented to improve the road infrastructure, and repairs are being made to the bus station building.
"The Lower Zaramag checkpoint plays a strategic role in the development of bilateral relations. The introduction of advanced technologies and well-established cooperation ensure the border security while providing comfortable conditions for citizens and carriers," Valery Pikalev has emphasized.
Following the visit, key areas of joint action for further development between the Federal Customs Service of Russia and Rosgranstroy were identified: equipping the checkpoint with modern control equipment, improving joint customs control mechanisms, and increasing throughput while maintaining high security standards.
