Fines, deportations, and criminal cases: South Ossetia's KGB Border Service summed up the half-year results

The Border Service of the State Security Committee (KGB) of South Ossetia has summarized its work for the first half of 2026, reporting the detention of 184 border law violators. This was reported by the agency's press service.

According to the data presented, 54 violators of the state border regulations and 129 violators of the border regulations were detained during the reporting period. In addition, one offender was detained for disobeying the lawful orders of the border officers.

The KGB Border Service has conducted investigations into all violations.

"As a result, 99 offenders were given preventative measures, 63 were fined administratively, and nine were deported from the Republic. Criminal cases were initiated against four individuals. Administrative proceedings were dismissed in two cases, and investigations are ongoing against seven offenders," the press service has stated.

The total amount of fines collected by the state amounted to 185,500 rubles.

The Border Service has reminded residents and visitors of the Republic that when planning trips to settlements located in the border zone, they must have identification documents (passport or birth certificate for minors). Foreign citizens are also required to have the border zone passes.

Furthermore, hunting and fishing within the border zone of the Republic of South Ossetia must be permitted at least three business days in advance. To do this, one must complete an application at the Border Service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia at the following address: Tskhinval, Khetagurov Street,1, attaching copies of your passport, a valid hunting license, a permit for the possession and carrying of hunting firearms, and a waybill indicating the exact location, timing, and type of hunting or fishing.

The agency has warned that intentional violation of the legal regulations established at the state border and border area entails not only administrative but, in some cases, criminal liability.

The Border Service of the KGB of the Republic of South Ossetia has emphasized that all possible routes of entry for border violators are within the control zones and sectors of influence of the border forces of South Ossetia, and encourages citizens to report any border security violations to [email protected], guaranteeing the confidentiality and security of the applicant.
