Economic development, job creation, and the development of the Republic's own sources of income were the main topics of a working meeting between the South Ossetian President Marat Kambolov and a delegation of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, led by Deputy Minister Sergei Nazarov.
The head of state has emphasized that the economy must provide people with jobs and businesses -with opportunities for growth; therefore, the key task is to identify and develop the main drivers of economic growth in South Ossetia.
The meeting focused on tourism potential. The newly appointed ministry was tasked with identifying promising areas and preparing a comprehensive development concept for the industry. Specialists from the Kavkaz.RF Development Institute have already studied potential locations for modular glamping sites. The goal is to select solutions that blend harmoniously with the Republic's natural and architectural landscape, as well as incorporate the successful experience of the Mamison resort. Furthermore, design work for a large-scale renovation of the Alan Hotel is ongoing under the direction of a private investor Arsen Kanokov; completion is scheduled for next year.
In the area of entrepreneurship support, the parties discussed the introduction of accessible financial instruments for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the creation of a separate institution to support entrepreneurs.
A separate section addressed issues of preferential financing for investment projects implemented at the direction of the Russian President. The Ministry has received 13 applications, which are currently undergoing review. The commission will conduct a preliminary selection process by November 10, after which the projects will be submitted to Russian banks with the expectation of receiving the first financing decisions by the end of this year.
"Our goal is to consistently create conditions for the emergence of new enterprises, jobs, and sources of income." "Every investment project must have a clear economic rationale and a concrete outcome for the Republic," Marat Kambolov has concluded.
